Some Statistics:

  • An average of 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States - more than 12 millions women and men over the course of a single year (National Domestic Violence Hotline)

  • 94% of our clients expressed that they received the help they sought from our helpline (Maitri Annual Report 23-24)

  • 1 in 4 women (24.3%) and 1 in 7 men (13.8%) aged 18 and older in the US have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

  • In Fiscal Year 2021-2022, domestic violence shelter programs served 13,370 individuals in shelters and served 54,521 individuals through non-shelter supportive services, there were 103 domestic violence related homicides in California in 2023, of which 74 of the fatalities were female and 29 were male.

  • In Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Maitri provided culturally responsive services to 777 individuals. Organizations around CA served more than 57, 000 individuals with lifesaving supporting services.
